UTV Cattle Feeder

The new UTV cattle feeder from Chapman, specifically designed for UTVs and 4×4 vehicles, offers a quick and efficient way to feed livestock. The MF350 UTV-mounted feeder features a variable drop rate (0.5kg to 2kg) and a controlled drop gap regulated by the vehicle’s speed. Tested alongside our sheep snacker, the drive system and electronics ensure optimal performance.

Constructed from heavy-duty galvanized steel, Chapman feeders boast an interchangeable control module between models. The feeding counter allows precise control, operating from zero up or as a countdown.

Electronic drive

The electronic drive system minimizes wear during open and shut operations, enabling extended towing distances. IP67-rated components guarantee effective operation in tough conditions. The back-lit display ensures easy readability, and the countdown function facilitates precise food dispensing for livestock monitoring. When hard-wired and turned off, the unit consumes minimal power, preserving battery life.

Build Quality

Manufactured in the UK, the MF350 is lightweight yet exceptionally strong, suitable for wet, wintry conditions. The fully galvanized hopper ensures robustness without excessive weight. Weighing around 90kg when empty, it accommodates the full 300kg max feed capacity, subject to the vehicle’s load limit. When used with a trailer, the drop deflector dispenses feed on the clear ground between the UTV and the trailer.

Chapman MF350 UTV Feeder

Derived from the renowned Chapman trailed sheep snacker, this version is designed for easy mounting into the rear cargo area of a UTV. It comes with PVC tonneau covers and an electronic control box as standard features.

With a capacity of 300L (250kg feed approx.), the feeder boasts 25 drops per minute, allowing variable drop amounts ranging from 0.25 to 2kg, depending on the feed type. The supply voltage ranges from 10v minimum to 18v maximum, with a nominal voltage of 13.8V. Operating temperatures span from a minimum of -15°C to a maximum of +50°C.

Additional features include incorrect polarity protection and a 30-second overload thermal rest time.

UTV Cattle Feeder - Features & Benefits

Additional Control Box for UTV Cattle Feeder

Perfect for those wanting to use multiple vehicles, as it saves the hassle of moving and reconnecting wiring to another vehicle. Moreover, an additional control box is included with wiring and mounting plates for added convenience.

Can I use the feeder to feed both sheep and cattle?

Yes, owing to the design and the heavy-duty spring fitted as standard. The Chapman feeders can effectively handle rolls, cobs, and various other feeds.

How much does the UTV cattle feeder weigh?

Weighing 90Kg unladen, the feeder features a 300L standard hopper, adding approximately 250Kg depending on feed type and weight.

What is the range of feed (in weight measures)?

Between 0.25 Kg upto 2 Kg dependant on feed type.

How many drop does it do in a minute?

Dropping 25 each minute, the forward drive speed determines the gap/distance between each dropped pile of feed.

How do I calibrate the drop size?

It is very easy to achieve precise feed drops. Begin by weighing an empty bucket, noting its weight. Adjust the sliding “gate” and lock it using the two hand tighteners. Perform a test run with the drop counter set to five drops, catch the feed into the bucket. Weigh the total, deduct the bucket weight, divide by 5 to obtain the individual drop weight. Repeat until the desired feed drop is achieved.
