Max Truck Power Barrow

Max Truck, the Power Barrow for landscapers, ground workers, builders, and tree surgeons.

The max truck is a 4WD power barrow that is ideal for moving building and landscaping materials over almost any terrain. Only 710mm wide, this compact machine can access the back of houses and go through garden gates to work hand in hand with micro diggers.

Max Truck Attachments:

The Max power barrow can be fitted with a full range of accessories, such as the flatbed for moving paving slabs, skip extensions for holding more volume, a ball hitch for towing, and turf tyres to reduce ground pressure and protect prestigious lawns. In recent years, woodland owners and tree surgeons have invested in these powered wheelbarrows to speed up the removal of timber, logs, branches, or brash.

Powered by the Honda 160cc GXV commercial grade 4-stroke engine for excellent performance, this machine will travel over obstacles, climb up steps, and up to 30° inclines, fully loaded. Its 365kg capacity allows the machine to shift three times more materials than a manual wheelbarrow and typically twice as much as a tracked dumper when accounting for speed of operation.

Typical users and how they use the Max Truck:

Builders and local authorities: For fast skip filling, transportation of paving slabs, bricks, rubble, and site debris.
Landscapers and gardeners: Transporting turf, soil, gravel, mulch, etc.
Garden centres and plant nurseries: Relocating and moving plants, large shrubs, rocks, small trees, compost, and bulky gardening items.
Farmers, smallholders, and horse owners: Carrying bales of straw and hay, feed, manure, and general rubbish.
Construction plant hire shops: These wheelbarrows can be hired to both commercial and domestic users for professional or domestic projects.

How to use the Max Truck

Pre-start Checks:
Park the wheelbarrow on a level surface. Examine and add fresh fuel if required. Check that the engine crankcase oil is full using the dipstick. Refer to the Engine Manual for detailed instructions.

Throttle lever: This lever controls the choke position and the engine speed.

Choke the engine for startup and adjust to:
1. Choke (startup).
2. To increase or decrease the engine speed, adjust to:
3. Fast.
4. Part-throttle.
5. Slow.
6. It is very important to run the engine on maximum revs when in use but not with the choke on (the choke is only used for starting the engine from cold!
To stop the engine, adjust to:
7. Stop (engine is off).

Control Levers

Parking Brake:
Engage the parking brake by releasing the lever when not travelling with the machine or while emptying the skip. The parking brake lever must be engaged (pressed down against the handlebar) any time that the unit is in motion.

Clutch:
With a forward or reverse gear selected, gently engage (squeeze) the clutch lever to move the power barrow forward or backward. Release the clutch to stop motion.

Gear Selector:
The gear lever controls the forward and reverse motion of the barrow and adjusts the forward travel speed. Select the desired gear based on travel conditions. It is important to never change gears whilst the machine is moving. The wheelbarrow must be completely stationary to change gears!

Skip Release:
Squeeze the skip release lever to release the skip lock, in this position, the skip is ready to be tipped to dump the load. Release the lever, and manually pull back the skip to its normal working to engage the skip lock.

Max Truck Case Study:

One Micro excavator and one Max Truck were used on an outbuilding demolition task.

Customer: Earth Moving Services Ltd, Wiltshire.

Details:

  • Distance from excavation site to tip point approx. 25M through a narrow alleyway.
  • The route travelled by the machine followed an ‘S’ shape from the back garden into the alleyway as designated by the wooden boards used to protect the lawn.
  • The total amount of hardcore material shifted in 7 ½ hours was equivalent to more than a six-wheel grab lorry load with some material left over after the grab lorry had loaded.

Max Truck Tip Cycles:

  • Engine left idling whilst being loaded by micro excavator and ran at full throttle when travelling.
    – Approx. 45% time in 3rd gear travelling loaded to tip site.
  • Approx 5% time in 1st gear turning out of the alleyway to tip the load.
  • Approx. 50% in reverse gear travelling back to hardcore stockpile to be loaded by my micro excavator.
  • Fuel consumption during this task: 0.46L/per hour.
  • Since this Case Study (May 2015) – Stephen Trott of Earthmoving Services has been so pleased with the Max truck that he is on his second machine (fitted with twin wheels).
